Catchpoint recognized in Six Gartner® Hype Cycle™ 2023 Reports
Catchpoint is pleased to announce that Gartner has released six new Hype Cycle reports that mention Catchpoint in respective categories.
Gartner Hype Cycles provide a graphic representation of the maturity and adoption of technologies and applications, and how they are potentially relevant to solving real business problems and exploiting new opportunities. Gartner Hype Cycle methodology gives you a view of how a technology or application will evolve over time, providing a sound source of insight to manage its deployment within the context of your specific business goals.**
“We see the inclusion of Catchpoint in six different reports as a sign of the quick adoption of Internet Performance Monitoring as an emerging technology that is becoming essential for more use cases every day“ says Gerardo Dada, Catchpoint’s CMO. “It illustrated how critical it for every organization to aim spire for Internet Resilience today.”
Below are some key insights from select 2023 Gartner Hype Cycle reports in which Catchpoint was recognized.
Hype Cycle for Enterprise Networking:
- The report states, “Organizations are coming to the realization that metrics tell only part of the story. If the user is having a less-than-ideal experience, then whatever the metrics say are meaningless. DEM can help provide visibility into not just the metric based performance, but also the subjective portion of the user experience.”
- Gartner notes, “Due to the sheer volume of data generated by DEM tools, organizations without a robust analytics approach may struggle to make sense of all the data. Few vendors use analytics to enable a proactive approach in this space.”
We are honored to be mentioned by Gartner as one of the Sample Vendors that use analytics to enable a proactive approach in DEM. While delivering synthetics, RUM, performance optimization, and high-fidelity data is a significant part of what we do, the other crucial aspect is empowering businesses with flexible visualizations and advanced analytics, enabling them to find and fix issues before the business is impacted.
Hype Cycle for Monitoring and Observability:
- The report states, “Observability is becoming central to how modern businesses understand customer and employee experience. New technologies are emerging to deal with the complexity presented by operational telemetry. This Hype Cycle helps I&O leaders plan their observability initiatives for success.”
- Gartner notes, “In parallel, the growing interest and efforts toward achieving environmental sustainability goals are seeping into IT and I&O leaders’ remit. This is leading to their exploration of ways and means to monitor and measure IT’s contribution in areas like power consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.”
Sustainability is becoming a higher priority for organizations globally. In response, Catchpoint recently launched Carbon Control. This new capability lets businesses and organizations see the real-time carbon footprint of their websites so they can take specific actions to reduce Internet-related CO2 emissions.
Hype Cycle for Zero Trust Networking:
- The report states, “Zero trust is not a single technology, implementation or final destination. Instead, it is fundamentally a mindset or paradigm that leads to a strategy for, and implementation of, specific architectures and technologies.”
- Gartner recommends, “I&O leaders must invest in people, processes and technologies to improve the zero trust posture of their networking environments.”
While traditional VPNs rely less on the Internet for transport, newer SASE and ZTNA solutions rely largely on the Internet for transport. Having the type of visibility into the Internet Stack provided by Catchpoint (including DNS, ISP, CDN, BGP, public clouds) is essential for visibility into network traffic.
Hype Cycle for the Future of Enterprise Applications:
- The Hype Cycle states, “This Hype Cycle has been created with a strong emphasis on the early-stage, sometimes embryonic, technologies that enterprise application leaders should be paying attention to. As a result, all of the technologies are at the Innovation Trigger, Peak of Inflated Expectations and Trough of Disillusionment stages. None has reached the Slope of Enlightenment or Plateau of Productivity yet.”
- Gartner notes, “The research is designed to provide a starting point for: Reinventing the digital employee experience to drive higher levels of adoption and business value. This includes investing in new and emerging digital workplace technologies like collaborative workflow automation, workplace experience apps and workforce ‘nudgetech.’ It also includes developing a strategy on how the application teams will apply concepts like digital work hubs.”
IT has a pivotal role in supporting technology parity for hybrid employees, ensuring they have secure access to resources regardless of their location. After all, if they can’t connect, they can’t work. Catchpoint's inclusion as a sample vendor in this space is a win for our Workforce Experience solution, helping support an anywhere, anytime, hybrid workforce.
Hype Cycle for Unified Communications and Collaboration: Digital Experience Monitoring
- Gartner notes, “To support the new ways of hybrid working, organizations have significantly invested in their UCC portfolio. This leads to a complex arrangement of applications where tools from various vendors have overlapping capabilities; and organizations needing to pay for two or more solutions with similar capabilities, resulting in cost and IT landscape inefficiencies.”
- User recommendations: “Use UCM tools that blend APM and NPM (real-time monitoring from endpoints and end-users, and synthetic call agents). These solutions may be supplied by dedicated UCM vendors, broader DEM performance monitoring tools, tools provided by UCaaS providers, or a small number of security and software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) vendors. Clients may also employ these four strategies in combination.”
We think the report's recommendation aligns with a prediction we made last year that, moving forward, more and more companies will be more willing to combine monitoring solutions according to their business needs. Combining solutions such as IPM, APM, and NPM does not represent tool sprawl. On the contrary, it represents a smart investment in the operational visibility of your organization.
A commitment to excellence
We think the Gartner recognition of Catchpoint across various categories underscores the value of IPM in addressing industry challenges. From enhancing user experiences to supporting hybrid workplaces, our inclusion in these reports reaffirms our commitment to innovation, excellence, and enabling Internet Resilience for our customers.
