Introducing Catchpoint’s Live Internet Outages Map
We’re delighted to introduce a new, free tool for everyone: Catchpoint’s Live Internet Outage Map.
The Live Internet Outage Map is a limited, free version of Catchpoint’s Internet Sonar capability publicly available to everyone, not just Catchpoint users. It shows outages from the last 24 hours and provides a sample of the thousands of services monitored in the full version of Internet Sonar.
It intelligently provides simple, trustworthy Internet health information at a glance so you can get ahead of outages that impact your business. The Live Internet Outages map uses data from millions of real-time tests run on the world’s largest, independent active observability network instead of delayed and untrustworthy crowd-sourced reports like some other outage trackers. The result is our AI-powered, real-time, and interactive status report that can be seen here.
Not only is this a free service that lets anyone immediately check “Is it me or something else?”, it’s also objectively better than similar outage-monitoring offerings because it’s:
- Based on real data, not crowd-sourced. You aren’t relying upon the opinions of any user who runs into an unknown problem without understanding why and the results aren’t subject to human error.
- Live, not delayed. You don’t have to wait for third-party providers to post outage reports (if they even bother!) hours after the issue has been resolved, by which time that information is far too late.
- Accurate due to millions of tests and billions of data points. This data is based on tests run on our Global Observability Network and curated by our advanced AI correlation engine. Note that no one else has this breadth of observability or this number of live tests to work from.
- Better at eliminating false positives. Other competing tools that promise to provide insights into the Internet often report inaccurate data, sometimes falsely complaining something is down when it isn’t. Internet Sonar’s advanced AI correlation engine examines outage data and ensures all final results are valid.
Note that while it’s based on Internet Sonar, the Live Internet Outages map is not a full version of that product. It’s limited to the last 24 hours and monitors fewer categories than the full version of Internet Sonar available to Catchpoint users.
The Live Internet Outages map will show you outage information for the following categories:
- Social Media
- Including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more
- Travel
- Including booking sites, airlines, hotels, and more
- Entertainment
- Including Netflix, Disney Plus, Spotify, and more
- Ecommerce
- Including Amazon, Apple, IKEA, Walmart, and more
- News
- Including CNN, BBC, NBC, and more
- Finance
- Including Visa, E Trade, PayPal, Bank of America, and more
However, the full version of Internet Sonar also monitors thousands of additional Internet services in categories like:
- Internet Infrastructure (AWS, Azure & Google Cloud)
- SaaS (AIaaS UCaaS, SECaS)
- Marketing Technology (Ad serving, Analytics, Video)
- API & Developer Tools
- Travel & Airlines
- and many, many more
The full version of Internet Sonar also allows you to adjust timeframes beyond the last 24 hours. It will also generate notifications that can be viewed in Catchpoint dashboards, sent via email or integrated into any system via webhook or API. At any time, you can click on these notifications to drill down into the details and examine the data yourself. Alerts from Internet Sonar can save considerable time when trying to diagnose incidents, dramatically reducing both Mean Time to Identification (MTTI) and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
Everyone relies upon an ever-increasing web of third-party services to run their critical systems, and knowing which of those third-party services are down can get to the answers faster. Internet Sonar removes Internet Stack blind spots, takes the guesswork out of troubleshooting and saves both time and money.
